About Us

"I was a stranger and you welcomed me." — Matthew 25:35

Our Story

Originally founded as St Thomas Lancaster Housing Project, the charity was rebranded to Lancaster Churches Housing Projects to reflect our growing partnership across multiple churches in the city.

We were registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Registered Charity No. 1200112, CIO 5203101) in August 2022. Our vision is clear: by 2030, we aim to help 20-30 refugees become independent, providing a secure base and access to community support.

We believe that providing a house is just the beginning. By offering a home—supported by wardens who walk through life with our residents—we create the foundation for true societal integration.

Our Faith & Values

Integrity

We act with honesty and transparency in all we do.

Wisdom

We seek thoughtful, informed approaches to complex challenges.

Service

We put the needs of our residents at the heart of every decision.

Stewardship

We manage resources carefully and responsibly.

Care

We offer compassion without condition.

LCHP is a Christian-run charity, but we warmly welcome residents and volunteers of all faiths and none.

Our Team

LCHP is led by a small, dedicated team of trustees who guide the strategic direction of the charity. Our day-to-day operations are supported by committed volunteers and wardens who live alongside our residents, walking with them on their journey to independence.

We believe in the dignity of all individuals, and our team works tirelessly to create a safe, warm, and supportive environment.

Our Partners

We work closely with local organisations to provide comprehensive support:

  • Lancaster City Council
  • Local Partner Churches
  • RAIS Lancaster
  • Global Link

Together, we are building a stronger, more welcoming Lancaster.
